SHRI SOREN ORDERS HIGH LEVEL DEPARTMENTAL INQUIRY INTO MINES ACCIDENT IN JHARKHAND

A major accident took place in the 17th incline of Bhatdih mine of Western Jharia area of Dhanbad under Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), on September 6th, 2006 at about 7.20 p.m. Fifty miners were working in the mines at the time of accident. The Union Minister of Coal, Shri Shibu Soren and Secretary, Shri H.C. Gupta today reached the spot. The Chairman, CIL, Shri Shashi Kumar, Director (Technical), BCCL, Shri D.K. Basu along with the CMD, BCCL, Shri P. Bhattacharya have already visited the site. The rescue operations are being conducted by 12 rescue teams of BCCL reinforced by teams from CCL and ECL.
